Michael Thomas, Cinematographer
Michael Thomas is a visual storyteller by way of Birmingham, Alabama, and onward into his current residency in the Graduate UCLA MFA Cinematography program in Los Angeles, California.
He started out filming and lighting for live theatre, as well as dance performances when this passion led to photography and cinematography in the film industry. During his undergraduate career at the University of Alabama he participated in many different film festivals, as well as participating in the planning and production of the annual Black Warrior Film Festival in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
He has worked with companies such as Red Mountain Entertainment to help produce live shows at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater for traveling tours of artists including: The Fray, John Mayer, Kelly Clarkson, The Avett Brothers, and more. Later during his undergraduate career he took part in internships at production companies in Los Angeles such as Psychic Bunny, and Director Michael Bay's commercial production company, The Institute.
Currently, he resides in Los Angeles, California, where he is apart of the Cinematography MFA Program at UCLA.
